These maps are simple to install, other than the hassle of doing each state separately, and they work great and have VERY detailed elevation information compared to the Garmin TopoUSA maps, which have an approximate 1:100,000 scale - these are 1:24K. Here are some screen shots from Telluride Colorado, showing the differences (Garmin Topo USA Version 3.02). All screens are with the same detail setting: HIGHEST.
Topo USA at 1 mile scale.
Colorado Topo at 1 mile. The detail level is WAY too busy to be usable, but you
could set the level to Medium and it would be fine.
Topo USA at 0.5 mile
Colorado Topo at 0.5 mile. the detail level is pretty good, except the cliffs
are solid dark splotches because there are too many contour lines clustered in
one spot.
Topo USA at 0.2 mile. Not much detail at all.
Colorado Topo at 0.2 mile. Ooooohh... pretty! Where did that lake come from?
Topo USA at 500 feet. "Overzoom" shows at the bottom, indicating that there is
no more detail available, it's just "bigger".
Colorado Topo at 500 feet. This is still very nice and usable, especially if you
are on foot.
