Taking delivery of a new vehicle is always a
pleasure, especially near Christmas...
The rear swing door and low floor is very handy for
dressing.
Showing off the winter shoes - Cooper Discoverer M&S
225/70R16 tires on Sport Edition (cheapy) alloys. In a cold Spokane winter, they
are a VAST improvement over the slippery OEM Geolander G91A tires. The Tire
Pressure Warning light comes on, since there are no expen$ive transmitters
installed, but it takes an hour of driving to trigger it, and the system resets
when parked near the other wheels...
Another angle. The Coopers have a meaty "truck-like"
tread design, with good voids for resistance to clogging in deep snow and mud,
but they are heavily siped and still grip tenaciously on glare ice. They are
noisier than a less aggressive tread, but it isn't objectionable. They are much
better on loose gravel. They are studdable for even more grip on ice, but I
chose not to stud them due to noise and road damage concerns.
The White Horse Saloon, Spirit Lake Idaho, circa
1904. The bar was rough and smoke-filled. The Hideaway Cafe next door was
breathable, and had excellent meals, but the log structure was coooold inside. I
recommend a visit in the warmer months.
